An engineer by education, Leher Sethi had a cushy job at a multinational that she left in order to pursue something more interesting. From outdoor training camps & middle management technical training to wedding décor with designer houses, she did it all until she chanced upon the wellness industry. She has built a niche for herself in this demanding profession and consults multiple spas across Delhi – NCR. A well-known face in the Delhi Social Circle, she is known for the various academic events she promotes and organizes. She runs her own event conceptualization company called ‘Something Creative’ where she has collaborated and worked with various ministries of Delhi Govt. and the Central Govt. to do events of cultural and social importance. Derived from her passion of reading, she is always on a lookout for new books as she feels that reading makes one grow as a person. A habit she inculcated from her father, she is always looking for new things to learn, and what better way to learn that to read! Being from an Army background, she has had the privilege to travel across the length and breadth of the country. Now settled in Delhi, she felt the need to mingle with like-minded people, which is when she went on the lookout for a Book Club. When she could not find one that discussed all genres of books, she co-founded Delhi Book Lovers. She started a community called ‘Literature Corner’ with the main objective to give its members the freedom to express. Besides just discussing books, this club also holds author-interactive sessions & workshops for aspiring writers. She was instrumental in organizing the Delhi Literature Festival and is an advisor to the festival. Other interests include enjoying cuisines from various parts of the world prompting her to also be associated with several food review websites & journals. Leher was featured in Femina Magazine, being called “An Inspiration”. She has spoken at various events and conferences including the 45th Anniversary conference of IMM, Joint National Seminar by The National Foundation for Communal Harmony and National Commission for Women besides various Social Media Summits. She is also seen regularly moderating sessions with various authors, including the Utkal Literature Festival in Orissa and the World Book Fair. She also organizes and hosts events. As a social activist, she is associated with various NGOs and is a secretary to the ICHR (Indian Council for Human Relations) and ICUNR (Indian Council for UN Relations). She is also a secretary of the Indo-Indonesia Friendship Society and the Indo-Vietnam Friendship Society. She was identified as one of the 20 women as a ‘Leader of Tomorrow’ by the New York Times as it brought the Women in the World Summit to India for the first time in 2015. She has been recently appointed the Director of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojna (SAGY) for the Villages Budhan Pur Majra & Salah Pur Majra, collectively known as Majra Dabbas in Bawana Vidhan Sabha under the Member of Parliament – North West Delhi (Dr. Udit Raj) and has been working on development work in the village as a consultant. She is also a member of the Women’s Committee of Delhi Management Association (DMA), AIMA and the Women Entrepreneurship Committee of the Ph.D. Chamber of Commerce & Industry. She was awarded the National Changemakers Award dedicated to Swami Vivekananda in 2018 and has been part of the “Asia Book of Records” for having been part of Wommenovator, 2018 setting the record for the most no. of women coming together to pitch their product/service under a roof. Award for Outstanding Work in the field of Social Service by Buddha Education Foundation, at a Samman Samaroh (26-27-28 October 2018) at Dilli Haat, Pitampura, Delhi. Received the prestigious 6th NAARI GAURAV SAMMAN 2019 by the Rajasthani Academy (Regd.). REGARDING SOCIAL WORK: She has been responsible for the total turning-around of the Vasant Public School in the Vasant Kunj area of New Delhi and is actively involved in various initiatives towards the upliftment of women and children. The Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana is a rural development programme focusing on the development in the villages across India, which includes social and cultural development and aims to spread motivation on social mobilization of the village community. This is a national level programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 11 October 2014. Leher Sethi has been involved in this national-level programme and has been instrumental in the projects under this scheme while representing the vision of Dr. Udit Raj, Member of Parliament in the villages of Salahpur Majra & Buddhanpur Majra. She has provided exemplary guidance and worked with communities around educational and social programs under the aegis of this national-level program. Leher has been working with the district office under the guidance and supervision of the local area District Magistrate to co-ordinate various developmental works in both these villages, which come under the District Kanjhawala.
